Wonder Lake, 6X8", oil on canvas
This little gem of a lake is hidden up high in a corner of the Bugaboos. On arriving here, although it was gob-smackingly gorgeous it was very difficult to find a good design. When that happens to me (which is often enough) I look for an element that interests me, and try to find a way to make a design. I loved the snowpatch reflecting in the lake, but one snow patch does not a composition make, so I strolled around the shoreline till I found a vantage that would afford a foreground and some contrast for me to work with. This little 6X8" will be the springboard for a bigger piece that I can hardly wait to dig in to!
PS I have two workshop coming up in the next two weeks. The first a plein air workshop this coming weekend (Sept 11th and 12th) and the second a daily painting/oil workshop held in Vancouver. Still some spots left, go to my website (www.gayeadams.com) for further information.

This is beautiful! Crazy composition, but it gets your attention. I love the little splash of blue at the bottom ... I wish I could attend your workshop but just can't travel over from the Island for it. Maybe another one in the future!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. It is a crazy composition, and I was amazed it came together in the end. I looked at your website - very nice work. Hope to meet you one day. Happy painting!
