Lemon Tea, 6X6", oil on linen
This is a painting that I just completed for a demo page in the next FCA newsletter. It's been a while since I've done a studio piece, but it was WAY too hot to paint outside this last while, so I retreated to the cool of my studio.
What I was amazed to find was that my drawing skills had become less accurate over this last while, as drawing in the landscape does not require the exactness that drawing a still life requires. I never find ellipses easy to draw. If they're wrong, they're wrong. Anyway, it was fun to get back into the saddle. I'll be doing a lot of these when the bad weather hits.

Wonderful colors! It glows.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job friend! Love the spoon reflection, and excellent job on the drawing!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a little hard won - I had to rework than darn ellipse a few times before I got it right.
ReplyDeleteIt's all good practice.
Good morning, Gaye. I just read your article in FCA "art avenue". I couldn't agree with you more, about photo references and dulling your artistic eye. Thank you very much for the much-needed kick in the butt!!!
