This is one of my Bugaboo paintings as promised. The forms in the Bugaboos are startling. I realize as a relative novice at mountain painting, how unfamiliar these shapes and colors are to me. The hardest thing to render was the many subtle, sophisticated grays that appear in this kind of landscape. It was essential to have an umbrella while painting because with the sun shining on your palette or in your face, the pupils are unable to see color accurately. Having said that, when I set up my umbrella and had not yet anchored my tripod down, all my gear did a Mary Poppins! Ah, the challenge of outdoor painting, most especially in the high country. Extreme painting! Gotta love that. I picked the dirt out of my painting and pressed on.
Lookin' good. What a prime paintings spot! Totally worth fighting the wind. It's not a real plein aire unless it's got dirt, grass, or bugs in it!
